Overview
About the hats
Pam Goldberg, Johannesburg hat designer, presents hat designs of traditional quality with a singular attention to detail. Always fashionable, timely and timeless. The nucleus of Pam’s customer-base shares her passion for style. Her clients know they will find the hat which will complete their look, and the hat will be worn for many years to come.
Pam has a unique and intuitive ability to combine colours, materials and textures, creating wearable works of art. All hats are handmade and trimmed with the finest ribbons, flowers, feathers and crystals. Utilizing an extensive collection of vintage blocks (hat shapes), the designs mirror current trends through their colour and adornment, completing any fashionable ensemble. Each hat is individually measured to suit the customer’s head-size ensuring ultimate comfort.
Fascinators
Fascinators are headpieces that can be worn by brides who do not wish to wear a veil, but still want a special adornment for their wedding day. With the resurgence of vintage looks and fashions, more brides are shying away from the traditional bridal veil. A fascinator can be worn on its own, or with a birdcage veil. A simple fascinator can also look very chic under a longer drop veil for the wedding ceremony or worn alone for the wedding reception.
Brides with shorter hair may also want to try a vintage-inspired hairstyle from the 1920's or 1930's to go with their bridal headpiece. The feather and flower accessories were popular in the 18th century as an eye-catching topper for the elaborate hairstyles of the day. As retro fashion, fascinators and hats have come back into style.
A fascinator can incorporate tulle, crystals, vintage jewellery, fabrics, ribbons, silk flowers or other materials and is traditionally worn on one side of the head. Fascinators can be incorporated into hair accessories by attaching it to a comb, headband or pinning into the hair, depending on the design. A fascinator acts as an accent piece in the hair. Variations on chignons and low buns are classic choices that work well with fascinators too.
